[Raven: Friendly warning… Bleak Valley gets pretty bleak in this one. We touch upon sexual violence, so Caveat Emptor.]

Looking back at things I've enjoyed, and smashing them to pieces with the Snark-Hammer. Lover of games of every stripe and hue. NOT A REAL BIRD.

  • I’m of an age with Dove and Wing, and grew up in a medium-sized, working-to-middle class town near Houston. Towards the end of 5th grade (age 10-11), we got the “Your Changing Body” talk and video. It was a little dated and gave basic info on what to expect from puberty – hair in funny places, periods, acne, etc. In 6th grade health class we covered reproduction, but it was very sanitized sperm-fertilizes-egg-and-then-a-baby-comes-out with no mention of human bodies, or how the sperm gets to the egg. Absolutely no talk of birth control. And although health class was required throughout high school and junior high, it was almost always taught by one of the gym coaches and somehow we somehow never made it to the chapters on human sexuality by the end of the school year. It’s a wonder there weren’t even more teen pregnancies in my class than there were.

I am very jealous of Dove’s primary school.

And I love you guys sooooo much!! Your podcasts help me make it through the work day.

    • Dove’s primary school does indeed sound most awesome. Probably been bulldozed by now.

Thank you for the kind comments! 🙂
